Glass Tables

March 27th, 2008 · 6 Comments

glass Whether it was the glass top coffee table, end tables, or the glass dining room table, everybody had that one relative (or WAS the relative) with one of these home wreckers in the crib. You can also name the sibling or cousin who got the lights beat out of them for accidentally breaking the glass table, only for it to be replaced by another one the following week.

glass tablesI don’t think that in my 32 years I have ever seen a glass table in a White American home. Is it just me, or did Black folks put the glass table industry in demand?

Indeed, there are generations of folk in my family with matching glass table scars on their forehead! It’s a tradition I hadn’t even really taken note of! And I will make a point from now on to examine my white friends’ homes. Surely with all of the home decorating craze, somebody else is buyin up all the glass tables!

The glass table. An ethnic thing. No glass table is complete with out the clear plastic runner over the dirty carpet.
