Revolution

Since our early days, as Nubians, here on planet earth, Black (of African Origin) people have been finding new ways to raise their fists in revolt. There is nothing we love more than joining elbows and belting out “We Shall Overcome”. Though most times we have raised the revolution for good cause, there are times when we should just keep quiet. For instance, on the job, you get a “do your work” reminder from your boss and now all of a sudden you’re campaigning in the lunch room for new management. Pipe down Warrior! Be Easy!

But this is who we are. Our forefathers that endured slavery made us overly sensitive to the wiles of others. Now, at the slightest hint of misuse/abuse, we riot. If you ever want to get in good with a black person give them some indication that you are interested in “grassroots” work. This is simply a trumped up word for boycotts/sit-ins. Tell them a story about some injustice that you faced recently, this will help them feel at ease around you and help you to appear harmless (which is significant in befriending a black person). Make mention of some cause that you supported recently, let them know that you are in financial support as well (This will give you creditability). They will most likely invite you to join in on their next civil rights/affirmative action/NAACP excursion.

You would want to say yes, militant black revolutionists are not to be played with.

The “Do your work” thing reminds me of a song me and my coworker used to sing…

When I was younger and was told that they were thinking about cancelling our spring break to make up for days we missed in school…I came up with the battlecry: ” Hell no we won”t go, Hell yes to an Easter dress!” After 20 years of being out of school, one girl remember me starting a revolt for Easter. I am all about revolution!!
